SIMILES WORKSHOP!

On Monday, some of the children attended Mrs Lunn's workshops on Similes.  We had to match the first part of a simile up with the second part.  Mrs Lunn challenged us to use one of these similes in our writing.  We succeeded!  We write amazing stories!

WRITERS' WORKSHOP - CHARACTER VOICE!

Some of the children have been working on using character voice in their writing.  These are a few photos Mrs Lunn took at their workshop.  They had to choose a character and write a speech bubble showing what they might say.

FEELINGS WORKSHOP!

On Tuesday, a group of children took part in a Writing Workshop.  The workshop was teaching them how to include feelings in their writing.  They had to read one of their stories and think about how they or their character was feeling at that time.  Next they had to think of different words to describe that feeling and write their choices on a paint strip.  Once they had finished, they read  the words to a friend and together they decided which was the best word to use.  The kids then added this new word into their story.  We were really surprised to see how much better the stories sounded with just a few extra words added to them.  Great job guys!
