A NEW CANDYLAND PRESS PASS HAS BEEN ISSUED!

 

Congratulations to Darian, our new Candyland Press Pass holder!  Here's a photo of Darian and Zia out in Candyland doing their writing.

ANZAC DAY MEMORIAL SERVICE AT RIVERDALE SCHOOL!

On Friday morning at 9.30am we held a Memorial Service at School for the soldiers who have fought in Wars. In particular, we remembered the soldiers who fought and lost their lives in Gallipoli 100 years ago.  We laid the wreath that we made at the service.  The poppies with the names of our family members names who served our country were placed by the crosses.  It was a very moving service and the teachers said we were very respectful.

We will remember them...

 

 We made our own poppy field pictures to hang out in Candyland.

On Saturday Dawson got up REALLY early in the morning when it was still dark.  He went to the Dawn Parade with Jessica.  Here is a photo of Dawson and Jessica at the Dawn Service.  Thanks for taking him Jessica.

MEASUREMENT FUN!

In Maths we are learning about measurement. We have been learning how to use non standard units to measure lots of classroom objects, and are becoming experts at ordering objects from shortest to tallest. Here are some photos of us in action!

ANZAC DAY!

In Piako 2 we have been learning all about ANZAC Day and what life was like in World War One for the soldiers.  Today our whole team got together and we made a wreath to lay at our Memorial Service tomorrow.   We used cupcake cases to make the poppies.  We had to turn them inside out so the red foil side was showing and carefully cut a wavy edge around the outside.  We drew a black circle in the middle of the poppy.  The teachers helped glue the poppies onto our wreath.  We added a special note to the soldiers...

We think the final effect looked pretty stunning.

 

CANDYLAND PRESS PASS

Today we 'unpacked' one of Zia's stories.  That means we looked at it carefully and decided where it fits on our Riverdale Matrix and had to decide what kind of story it was. It's a Shooting Star Story which means Zia moves to a CANDYLAND Press Pass!  She can choose where she works and can even work out on CANDYLAND!  Well done Zia.   We hope some more kids join you as an Expert writer soon.

WELCOME TO TERM TWO!

Wow what a busy start to the term.   Everyone has come back happy and ready to learn.

BEST DAY EVER!

We do a lot of pretty cool things at school these days but NOTHING compares to what happened today! 

Guess who came...

BELLE!

We heard her horse and carriage clip clop into school and then she appeared!   She was absolutely beautiful!  We were all amazed to see her!  Our teachers have never seen us so quiet!

Belle sat on a special throne we had made for her.   Then we showed her all our solutions to her friends problems.   We did so well.   She told us all about Fairytale Land.  Did you know she used fairy dust to make herself bigger? And did you know it rains glitter there?  We hope we get some more letters from her friends!

Ethan was sooooo good today he got five smiley faces on his fingers.   That's a record! Way to go Ethan!
